Thomas Tuchel is set to extend his contract as England manager through to Euro 2028.
The German took charge in January 2025 on a deal that runs until this summer’s World Cup.
But BBC Sport understands he views leading England into a home Euros as an unprecedented opportunity and is poised to commit to two further years.
The 2028 European Championship finals are being hosted by England, Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.
The Football Association is keen to ensure continuity and remove speculation over Tuchel’s future heading into the World Cup.
The 52-year-old has been strongly linked with Manchester United, where Michael Carrick is in charge until the end of the season.
Tuchel guided England to eight wins from eight matches in World Cup qualifying and they will play Croatia, Ghana and Panama in their group at the finals.
The former Chelsea and Paris St-Germain manager is attending Thursday’s draw for the 2026-27 Nations League.
